Whether you are considering candidacy yourself, doing research for someone who is, or simply interested in the process, the Election Finances section on our main website will provide helpful information.
You will find important information on registering as a candidate and filing nomination papers with the Returning Officer during the election period.
You can also find information on the Election Finances Act which regulates political advertising, spending limits, contribution limits and financial reporting. Questions about election expenses, contributions, tax credit receipts and campaign advertising can be answered by Election Finances staff.
You can also view the financial statements and contributions made to candidates during past electoral events.
Even if you have been a candidate before, make sure you review these laws for recent amendments to the election process.
